Steelcase Global Shared Service (GSS) Center makes it home in Kuala Lumpur
To provide Steelcase companies and their customers around the world with world-class customer services and processes, Steelcase opened its first Global Shared Services (GSS) Center in Kuala Lumpur in October 2008. Kuala Lumpur was selected as the home for the first GSS Center to provide close support for continuing growth in Asian markets.
The Global Shared Services Center aims to provide global best services and processes by consolidating a number of services that were previously undertaken at dispersed locations around the world. Centralizing them in one location will create new efficiencies, responsiveness and accuracy in the services Steelcase provides in the U.S., Europe, and other growing markets.
The services located in the GSS center include an innovation center, data center, finance, IT services, administration and sales services, and communications services. The center is currently growing staff numbers, and is expected to reach 300 people by mid-2009. It shapes a new way of working that will contribute to the future success of Steelcase.
Like the Steelcase WorkLife Centers located in key cities around the world, the GSS Center serves as a showcase for Steelcase knowledge, product and services, highlighted by the fact that it has been designed and constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Commercial Interiors (“LEED-CI”) standards, and is currently in the process of acquiring certification.
